Housefull 5, featuring Akshay Kumar, was released on June 6 with two unique endings shown in cinemas. Fans have requested others not to reveal any spoilers online.

As part of a fresh cinematic experiment, Housefull 5 premiered today, June 6, offering multiple endings depending on the theatre. Two distinct climaxes have been filmed, with each version screened at different locations. On the film’s release day, Akshay Kumar’s fans took to social media urging people to avoid sharing spoilers. A user on X (previously Twitter) shared, “Humble request to fans — please don’t post live scenes from #Housefull5; let everyone enjoy the cinema experience.” Another commented, “#Housefull5 please don’t give away spoilers. It’s a humble request.” A third wrote, “It’s #Housefull5 day. Please don’t leak the suspense. No spoilers — just watch it with your family and enjoy.”

Alternate endings are a rarity in film history — especially executed on this scale. This time, Housefull 5 ventures beyond its usual comedy roots. It becomes a murder mystery filled with narrative unpredictability, powered by the franchise’s massive appeal and star-studded cast.
Producer Sajid Nadiadwala spoke about the idea, saying, “With Housefull 5, we aimed to take a bold creative leap — something never done internationally in thrillers. I’ve carried the idea of multiple endings and varied viewer experiences for 30 years. Since I wanted to shape Housefull 5 as a comedy thriller, this felt like the perfect moment to finally bring that vision to life.”
He continued, “Celebrating 75 years of Nadiadwala Grandson, we wanted to do something radical. Housefull is India’s biggest comedy franchise — so for the fifth part, we had to push creative boundaries. The question was simple: in a thriller, why should audiences only see one version of the truth? With this film, we’ve crafted a cinematic experience that stays true to entertainment while playing with storytelling form. It’s literally a killer comedy — with a twist that changes based on which theatre you watch it in. I’m proud that we’re doing this under the Nadiadwala Grandson banner during our 75th anniversary. Our legacy has always included scale, stars, and new experiences — and Housefull 5 takes that even further.”
He also added, “This is a natural evolution of the theatre experience — it brings curiosity, rewatch value, and surprise. In a world full of leaks and algorithms, we’re bringing back the joy of unpredictability. That’s where the excitement lies.”
Distributors see this as both a challenge and an opportunity. Sanjay Chatar of Pen Marudhar noted that the format “adds a whole new interactive layer to the moviegoing experience.” It requires strong coordination with cinema exhibitors to ensure “the right programming, smooth audience movement, and discoverability across various venues.”
Kamal Gianchandani, Chief of Business Planning & Strategy at PVR INOX, said, “We’re proud to support the release of Housefull 5 in this innovative multi-ending format — the first such strategy ever attempted at this level in Indian film. All our locations will showcase both versions, either on separate screens or in alternating time slots. This gives viewers more variety, deeper engagement, and extra incentive to revisit theatres.”
Housefull 5 features a massive ensemble of 19 stars. Leading the pack is Akshay Kumar, joined by returning regulars and new cast members such as Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Chitrangada Singh, Fardeen Khan, Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Ranjeet, Soundarya Sharma, Nikitin Dheer, and Akashdeep Sabir.
