Housefull 5, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, will feature two different climaxes, one of the firsts in Indian cinema. The film, starring Akshay Kumar, releases on June 6, 2025.

Before Akshay Kumar makes his return to cinemas with the blockbuster Housefull franchise, producer Sajid Nadiadwala made an extraordinary revelation. He announced that Housefull 5 would introduce a revolutionary concept in storytelling by showcasing two completely different climaxes, with each theatre screening a separate ending. This daring idea was revealed as part of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Nadiadwala Grandson.
In cinema history, alternate endings are hardly ever explored — and certainly not on this level. This time, Housefull 5 isn’t only about laughter. It turns into a murder mystery with unpredictable storytelling, powered by star presence and the strong reach of a popular franchise.
While talking about the film, Sajid Nadiadwala said, “With Housefull 5, we aimed for a bold and creative step — something never attempted on this scale for any thriller worldwide. I’ve held onto the idea of multiple endings and multiple viewer experiences for 30 years. Since I envisioned Housefull 5 as a thriller comedy, there couldn’t have been a better moment to turn this idea into reality.”
He further added, “It felt like the right time to do something this bold as we celebrate 75 years of Nadiadwala Grandson in the film industry. Housefull stands as India’s biggest comedy series, and for this fifth chapter, we needed to challenge the limits of what comedy can achieve. The concept of alternative endings was born from a basic thought: why should viewers always be given only one version of the truth in a thriller? With Housefull 5, we’ve created a film that plays with structure while staying firmly rooted in entertainment. It’s literally a killer comedy — with endings that vary depending on the location you watch it in. And I’m proud we’ve done this under the Nadiadwala Grandson banner during our 75th year in the business. Our tradition has always involved scale, stars, and delivering fresh experiences to the audience — and Housefull 5 raises that bar.”
He also mentioned, “This is a natural step forward in the theatre experience — building curiosity, repeat value, and a sense of adventure. In today’s world of leaks and algorithms, we’re bringing surprise back to the big screen. That’s where all the excitement lies.”
For film distributors, this approach presents new opportunities as well as hurdles. Sanjay Chatar from Pen Marudhar stated that this model adds “a whole new level of audience interactivity to theatrical screenings,” and it requires solid coordination with theatre owners to manage “programming, audience movement, and visibility at different venues.”
Kamal Gianchandani, Chief of Business Planning & Strategy at PVR INOX, commented, “We’re thrilled to support the rollout of Housefull 5 in this innovative multi-ending format — a first for Indian cinema at this scale. Every one of our cinema branches will screen both versions, either on separate screens or in alternate time slots. This offers viewers more options, deeper engagement, and stronger reasons to revisit the theatre.”
Housefull 5 features a massive star cast of 19 actors, led by Akshay Kumar, and includes fan favourites and fresh additions like Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Chitrangada Singh, Fardeen Khan, Chunky Pandey, Johnny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Ranjeet, Soundarya Sharma, Nikitin Dheer, and Akashdeep Sabir. The movie, directed by Tarun Mansukhani, will hit theatres on June 6, 2025.
